SmithBayes Launches Version 2.1
London, UK 1 May 2008 - SmithBayes, a pioneer in strategic planning and decision-making software, today announced the release of SmithBayes Version 2.1, which makes strategic planning more dynamic and sophisticated than ever before.
With a smart new black user interface, tighter mapping features and the ability to seamlessly integrate external market data, Version 2.1 provides senior executives with increased granularity into their decision-making.
Revolutionising the provision of market data in the digital age, SmithBayes Version 2.1 can seamlessly integrate external market data, enabling decision-makers to build both internal and external influences into their strategic planning. Already SmithBayes has forged a partnership with the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) to integrate its subscription market data into the SmithBayes platform with live updates. This provision allows business strategists to hook into the forecasts that drive their business and, crucially for the agile organisation, recalibrate their plans and actions with live external information. Over time, SmithBayes aims to complement the intelligence provided by the EIU with information from other data and news providers.
SmithBayes CEO, Simon Williams, says ‘Building on previous versions of SmithBayes technology, version 2.1 eases user adoption and seamlessly blends both internal and external data sources - allowing firms to learn and adapt over time as all these sources combine and evolve over time.”
Version 2.1 of SmithBayes’ technology is a development on SmithBayes 2.0 released at the beginning of the year, providing completely rearchitected software leveraging the capabilities of Microsoft's .NET 3.0 Framework and uses Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF) to provide a world-class user experience visualising sophisticated business information.
Key features of version 2.1 include:
• Recalibration Abilities – New to the 2.1 version, recalibration further increases the agility of the SmithBayes platform and allows users to constantly evolve models to help them strategise & make decisions. SmithBayes software will take into account actual results, paths taken, internal factors and external influences, then recalibrate itself, ensuring that the models are up-to-date.
• Influences – Now users can seamlessly and simply integrate external
market data from external sources such as the EIU to ensure that a gentle dose
of reality is provided to make the plan as real as possible.
• Quick Starts – Version 2.1 introduces building blocks referred
to as Quick Starts, making it quick and easy to start up a SmithBayes model.
Quick Starts comprise of various levels of reusability, from single objects
all the way to entire models. They provide a starting point into which users
can build company or industry specific information. Once built, the model and
objects within can be saved to the library for use internally, or potentially
sold on to other users of SmithBayes as part of an external data set.
• Map – The central part of the application which helps users analyse their models has been overhauled with particular attention to adding various levels of detail within overlays for increasing seniority.
• Object Orientated Business Planning – SmithBayes applies an object orientated approach to business planning where objects can be nested together to provide quick and seamless sharing within an organisation – from boardroom to product level.
SmithBayes' decision-making software platform, derived from the technology employed in Formula 1 racing by Team McLaren Mercedes, enables corporate leaders to understand the options available to them when making crucial strategic decisions. The technology enables SmithBayes' customers to understand the risk, return and timing tradeoffs to identify optimal corporate strategies that will generate business success.
